Buyers still get sold a binder. The questionnaire arrives, engineering pauses, and someone writes policies that do not match the repo. That is the expensive path. Type II is about operating over time. If the controls are not how you ship, the observation window will show it.

ThunderCoders is a software practice first. We put Trust Services Criteria into architecture: tenant isolation, SSO, audit logs, secrets, promotion paths, and tickets that already explain who changed what. When the CPA firm starts, they inspect a living system, not a freeze.

What readiness looks like in delivery

We do not issue the report. A licensed CPA firm does. Our job is to make the evidence boring: CI artifacts, access reviews that match the identity provider, change records that match Git history, and runbooks the on-call team actually uses.

  • Access: least privilege, SSO where the product needs it, and reviews on a cadence you can keep.
  • Change: pull requests, environments, and production deploys that leave a trail.
  • Availability and processing integrity: monitoring, backups, and incident notes that are not a separate novel.
  • Confidentiality: encryption, secrets management, and vendor lists that match reality.

If you need a SOC 2 Type II software partner, look for a team that will sit with engineering and security in the same backlog. Readiness that starts when sales wants a logo on the website is already late.
